Play the same song, at the same second.

Hummo keeps everyone's YouTube Music in real-time sync — same track, same position, same play/pause. Each device plays locally; only the playback state syncs. No re-streaming, no bandwidth, no copyright headaches.

How it works

No accounts to wire up, no audio to upload. Three steps and the room is in sync.

1

Install & open YouTube Music

Add the Chrome extension and open music.youtube.com. The Hummo panel appears right beside your player.

2

Create or join a room

Start a private room and share the link, or browse public rooms in your language. The host controls play, pause, and skip.

3

Everyone stays in sync

The server shares only playback state — track, position, and a timestamp. Each device plays the audio locally and auto-corrects drift, so the room never falls out of step.

What actually travels over the wire

Host's browser Sync server (state only) Each listener plays audio locally track · position · play? · timestamp plays audio locally + corrects drift

No audio ever passes through Hummo's servers. We sync state; YouTube Music does the playing on each device.

Everything a listening room needs

Built for friends sharing late-night playlists and teams keeping a shared vibe — without anyone touching the audio file.

Real-time sync + drift correction

The host drives playback; every listener auto-aligns to the same position. Small timing slips are continuously corrected.

Rooms + in-room chat

Every room has its own chat. React to the track, drop a recommendation, or just talk while the music plays.

Shared queue + shuffle

Anyone can add to the queue and reorder it. Toggle shuffle for the room and let the order surprise everyone.

Browse public rooms

Discover open rooms in your own language — listeners are kept with rooms that speak the same language, so you always understand the chat.

Room hearts + sorting

Heart the rooms you love. Sort the public list by most-loved, most listeners, or newest to find the right vibe fast.

Friends, follows + badges

Add friends by nickname and one-way follow anyone. An icon badge tells you when a friend you follow starts listening.

Add this page to the queue

On any YouTube Music page, click "Add this page" to bulk-add the whole playlist to the room's shared queue in one tap.

No re-streaming, by design

We never stream or redistribute audio. Each device plays YouTube Music locally and only the playback state is synced — that's the whole trick.

Pricing

Questions

Do you re-stream or host the music?

No. Audio never passes through our servers. Every person plays YouTube Music locally in their own browser. We only sync playback state — the current track, position, whether it's playing, and a timestamp — so the room stays aligned without redistributing any audio.

Does everyone need YouTube Music?

Yes. Because each device plays locally, every listener needs access to YouTube Music in their own browser. Hummo keeps you all on the same track at the same second.

What does Free include?

The full experience — synced listening, chat, shared queue, public rooms, hearts, and friends — for rooms of up to 3 people. Pro removes the room-size limit so 4 or more can listen together.

Why are public rooms separated by language?

When you browse public rooms, you only see rooms set to your language. That keeps the in-room chat understandable and the vibe coherent — you join people you can actually talk to.

Who gets paid for Pro?

The host. Pro is $2.99/month and unlocks rooms of 4 or more. Payment runs through Stripe (via lavela) and the host keeps 100% of it — there's a 0% platform fee. Cancel anytime.
