  2. Sign in — Sign up / sign in with your email and set a nickname.
  3. Create / join a room — Create a room and invite friends, or join a room in your language from Browse public rooms. Everyone plays from their own YouTube Music and it syncs automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Is the music streamed from your servers?

No. The music plays locally on each device through that person's own YouTube Music. The server only syncs playback state — track, position, whether it's playing, plus a timestamp — so no audio is ever redistributed. That's why there are no copyright or bandwidth burdens.

Does everyone need YouTube Music to listen together?

Yes. Every participant needs access to YouTube Music on their own device. Hummo only sends sync signals so that everyone plays the same track at the same position.

Playback is slightly out of sync (drift).
How many people can join a room?

Free supports up to 3 people per room. Upgrading to Pro ($2.99/month) unlocks unlimited (4 or more) simultaneous listeners.

How do I pay for Pro, and how do I cancel?

Payment is handled by Stripe (via lavela). You can cancel the subscription anytime; on cancellation your Pro access stays active until the end of the current billing period, after which auto-renewal stops. For details, see the Terms of Service.

Why do only certain rooms show up in Browse public rooms?

Public rooms are isolated by UI language. That means you only see rooms from users who speak the same language as you (en/ko/ja). You can change the sort order by most-loved, most listeners, or newest.

How do I use the shared queue / shuffle / "Add this page"?
How do friends / follows / notifications work?

You can add friends by nickname or one-way follow anyone. When someone you follow opens a room, a badge notification appears on the extension icon.

Which languages are supported?

Three languages are supported: English (en), Korean (ko), and Japanese (ja).
